About Animaruni
An anime catalog and tracker built to answer the question you actually came with.
What it’s for
Most anime databases are good at telling you a show exists. Animaruni is built around what you do next: keeping track of where you are in a series, remembering what you thought of it, finding the next thing worth your time, and comparing notes with people who've seen it.
Sign in and you get a library organised by watch status, episode progress, a 1–10 score on anything you've finished, a favourites list, and a For you row on the homepage that is built from the genres you actually rate highly rather than from what is merely popular. None of that is required — the whole catalog is browsable without an account.
Where the data comes from
Titles, posters, synopses, scores, popularity counts, relations and staff credits come from AniList. The names of opening and ending songs come from AnimeThemes.
That second source is the part worth knowing about. Most anime databases can tell you who performed a show's opening, but not what it was called. Animaruni names the song, credits the people who made it, and links you somewhere you can actually hear it. On a long-running series that can be thirty-plus songs that are otherwise scattered across the internet.
We keep a cached copy of what both sources return, so pages stay fast and the site keeps working when an upstream is having a bad day. When we're serving something older than a day, the page says so rather than quietly pretending it's current.
How it stays free
Animaruni is funded by affiliate commissions and donations. Some outbound links to retailers carry a tracking tag, and if you buy something after following one we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Those links are marked Paid link where they appear.
There are currently no adverts on the site. We may add them, and if we do they will be labelled as advertising and kept out of the way of the catalog. Commercial relationships never affect what we show you: scores, rankings and search results come from the catalog data and are not for sale.
Your account and your data
Signing in uses Google, so we never see or store a password. We keep your email, display name and avatar, plus the things you create here — your library, scores, favourites, posts and comments.
We don't sell your personal information or hand it to advertisers, and we never use your library or ratings to target advertising. You can delete your account yourself at any time from your profile, and it takes effect immediately. The privacy policy spells out the rest, including what we keep and for how long.
Who runs it
Animaruni is independently operated and is not affiliated with AniList, AnimeThemes, or any studio, publisher or rights holder. Anime titles, artwork and songs belong to their respective owners; we present catalog information about them and credit our sources.
It is a real service rather than an experiment — it runs on its own infrastructure, has a public status page, and questions sent to support get answered by a person. If something is broken, wrong, or missing, tell us — reports about incorrect catalog data are genuinely useful.
